I don't know the exact age by law, but the youngest age I've ever heard of anyone working is 15. No, companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace have buildings were people work. Their employees do not work online, most of them anyways. I've been to the Facebook building in Palo Alto, California. Those type of companies wouldn't hire someone unless they were at least 18. They don't have teens working there in other words.

How can I live and work in the United States

How can I live and work in the United States?
I live and am currently a citizen of The Bahamas and I would like to live and work in the US. I am 19 years old, I have no children, no family in the states and I am not married. Can someone please help me?

Get a college degree and find a job with a company willing to sponsor your visa. If that don't work find an American husband.
2 :
Pick a visa There are basically NINE ways that you can get a visa to live and work in the US: (1) Marriage (or engagement in anticipation of marriage) to a US citizen. (2) You have skills that are in short supply in the US e.g. scientific or medical training. A degree is normally a must. Or you have superior specialist skills with at least 12 years experience. (H visas) (3) You have an Employer who is willing to transfer you - but even the employer has to make a good case for you - so you have to be a manager unless you fall under category (2) above.(L visas) (4) You may get a Green card in the diversity lottery (UK citizens, except N.Ireland, are not generally eligible unless you, your spouse or parents were born abroad or held a different citizenship. (5)You own or buy business (does not get you permanent resident status i.e. no green card)You must be a national of a qualifying Treaty countries. The business must have a minimum value of around $150k (more the better) bearing in mind you will need somewhere to live and with any startup business you will need at least 2 years living money as back up. So a figure of $350k would be a nearer minimum (E-2 visas) (6)You are an "investor" i.e. you have at least US $1m in assets to bring with you. half of that in a few areas. And your background will be investigated to the hilt. (EB-5 visas) (7)You have a close relative (mother, father, brother, sister and no further) who is an US citizen who would sponsor you, approx time this take 2-12 years? (8.The R1 visa is available to foreign members of religious denominations, having bona fide non-profit religious organizations in the U.S., for entering the U.S. to carry on the activities of a minister or religious worker as a profession, occupation or vocation (9)THE UNUSUAL You are in a position to claim refugee status/political asylum. or You get a member of Congress to sponsor a private bill with legislation that applies just to you. The S visa issued to persons who assist US law enforcement to investigate and prosecute crimes and terrorist activities such as money laundering and organized crime Recruitment agent will not take you seriously if you are not already in the US. Writing for jobs is really a waste of time; likewise US employers have no idea what foreign qualification are or mean (except Degrees) it may pay you to get your qualification translated into a US equivalent, there are Companies that do this (www.wes.org) .. But if you are getting a visa under (2) above then you need a job offer before you can get the visa. Your Employer will be your sponsor this will cost them upward of $5k. So you can see you have to be offering something really special to get considered They may also have to prove to the Dept of labor that there is no American who can do the job if the position is to be permanent ©

Small farm life in the United States

Small farm life in the United States?
Small farm life in the United States? Please help me by answering these questions? 1.What percentage of farms in the United States are family owned, and how has this percentage changed in the past fifty years? 2.What percentage of workers in the United States work on farms? 3.How has the growth of technology affected farm productivity and the need for farm workers?
Agriculture - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
According to the USDA statistics, 96% of farms are family owed and that hasn't changed much for many decades. The size of the farms has changed, however. Family farms now are much larger, sometimes with several families farming as one unit over several thousand acres. Not sure of the percentage, but USDA stats showed 778,000 farm workers in 2008. Technology has made farming more efficient and easier in some cases, but most of the labor-intensive jobs still remain. Computers still can't pick lettuce.
2 :
1. The vast majority of farms are family owned, including the so-called "factory farms." Large farms are not any less humane than small farms. 2. There are more people in prison than working on farms in the US. 3. Technology has dramatically decreased the need for workers, but not necessarily that much in the last 50 years. In terms of dairying, the milking machine is older than 50 years, but it allows one person to milk dozens of cows in the time it would take that same person to do it by hand. Selective breeding, better understanding of nutrition, improved veterinary care, and artificial insemination have all dramatically increased the per cow production

How am I legal to work in the United States

How am I legal to work in the United States?
I am 16 and applying for jobs in Texas. Most online applications ask if you are legal to work in the United States and will be able to show proof of it...is there a permit or paper I need? Where do I get it? Is being a legal 16 year old enough?
Other - Careers & Employment - 3 Answers

The proof can be: Your birth certificate that shows you were born in the U.S. but usually what your employer is asking for is a copy of a State I.D. or State Drivers License and your Social Security Card. That is the proof that you have the right to work in the U.S.
2 :
They mean proof you are a citizen or have the right legal paperwork otherwise. I think if you are under 18, you may also need a work permit.
3 :
if you are legal...if you were born here(in the US) then you are fine

Why is it so easy for an illegal immigrant to work in the United States

Why is it so easy for an illegal immigrant to work in the United States?
I am very concerned with this problem. It seems like every time I go to a fast food restaurant the employees don't understand me. Or anytime I try to use many other services I run into the same problem. I am assuming that this means that these people are illegally in the country. I know that to become a citizen you have to be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Are we really letting these people slide under the wire. If they aren't citizens they aren't paying taxes. O pad- I know that legal immigrants pay taxes. I'm not an idiot. The subject here is illegal immigrants.
Immigration - 15 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
They want to and are willing to do the work, unlike some people! Watch "Fast Food Nation"
2 :
There is a lot of work for them. Working for greedy Americans that don't want to pay a fair wage to an American citizen
3 :
I am not American but I suppose it is because they will do low paying, menial work which Americans will not do. I'm sure the people who employ them know that they are illegal, but they want cheap labour.
4 :
because we do not enforce our laws.the fuc....g politicians.
5 :
Because they are willing to fill in positions for less pay.
6 :
Businesses love cheap labor. However, you're incorrect in your assessment that only citizens pay taxes; legal immigrants pay, too.
7 :
Don't confuse the inability to speak English with someone being an illegal. There are legal immigrants that have been here for 20 years that never bothered to learn our language. They think we should learn to speak their language. If you can't speak Spanish you can't get a job. We were at a Walmart last week and I heard on the loud speaker," a Spanish speaking employee to the garden center please." My husband said loudly, "How about an English speaking customer to the garden center." Several customers gave him the thumbs up sign.
8 :
[I am assuming that this means that these people are illegally in the country.] you assume incorrectly. they're probably on some kind of visa. [If they aren't citizens they aren't paying taxes.] wrong again. they're working in the united states and therefore pay taxes. unless their employers act illegally.
9 :
Just because they don't speak English doesn't mean they aren't citizens. They could easily have been born here in the U.S. of Spanish-speaking parents. English is not and never was our national language. A fast food place isn't supposed to hire people illegally anyway, since the restaurant could get in trouble -- you have to fill out a W-4 to get hired at one. An illegal couldn't do that. But the question you should be asking is, Why is it that English-speaking people don't want those fast food jobs? I know I don't. You try and live on $6 an hour.
10 :
THere ARE citizens that don't speak English. Born here and raised in area that another language was dominant. Of course, BY FAR the majority are undocumented. As far as employers, they have to see a SS card, and, form of ID. It is hard (VERY HARD) to differentiate the valid ones from the invalid ones. Resident alien cards that are fake are GREAT fakes. I took a class on knowing the difference, had a checklist, and, spent days going through the copies of alien cards provided to a temp service near me. I still got several wrong. If an employer were to "Accuse" someone of being illegal, and, they be a citizen, they could be sued. The job of knowing which resident cards are good and which are not is just not what the business owner is going to worry about. If it looks like a valid resident card and ss card, they take it.
11 :
PEOPLE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT AMERICANS ON WELFARE. LIKE MENTIONED ABOVE. WHEN THERE ARE MILLIONS OF ILLEGALS ON WELFARE WHEN THEY HAVE TO *NO* RIGHT TO BE. I AM SICK OF PEOPLE NOT LEARNING ENGLISH. LEARN OUR LANGUAGE OR GET THE HELL OUT. MOST OF THE EUROPEANS THAT HAVE IMMGIRATED FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS UP UNTIL NOW HAVE LEARNED ENGLISH THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.
12 :
In the short term illegal immigrants pay into the Social Security system which is almost bankrupt. http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20050410/news_mz1e10ruben.html They also provide recruits for the military. http://www.inthesetimes.com/article/3271/illegal_immigrants_uncle_sam_wants_you/ But not all of them pay taxes. http://www.zazona.com/ShameH1B/Library/Archives/SaveSS.htm In the long term Amnesty Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $2.6 Trillion. http://www.heritage.org/Research/Immigration/wm1490.cfm Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Hunter have the most conservative voting records on immigration. http://www.betterimmigration.com/candidates/2006/prez08_gop2.html http://www.betterimmigration.com/candidates/2006/prez08_gop1.html Of these three, Ron Paul has the best chance of winning the Primary election. Paul's campaign has almost 4 times as much money to spend as Tancredo. http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/finance/candidates/ron-paul/ http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/finance/candidates/tom-tancredo/ Ron Paul has stated that he wants very strong borders and he was appalled that our government had taken border guards off of our borders to send them to Iraq. http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig8/haman3.html This is his six point plan: Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals. Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas. No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws. No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services. End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong. Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods. http://ronpaul2008.com/issues/border-security-and-immigration-reform/ The NAFTA Superhighway might be another significant threat to American borders. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBmFrYWPoG8 http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul349.html
13 :
First, why do you assume that they are here illegally? Just because they don't speak English well? Second, if they have a job at a fast food restaurant, then they are required to fill out an I-9, proof of citizenship. If they are here illegally and managed to get this job, then they have slipped through the cracks. There isn't much an employer can be expected to do, in terms of catching illegals with forged paperwork. It's not a company's job to enforce the law, just to follow it. Third, if they have a job at a fast food restaurant, then taxes will be withheld from thier check. They are paying thier way. Fourth, most illegals find work at a job that DOESN'T require forms to be filled out. Example: A Mexican comes over here, legally, and marries an American citizen. He saves a few bucks, and rents a house. He tells his family and friends in Mexico that, if they can make it up here, he has a place for them to stay. Once they are here, they work with him, mowing lawns or roofing houses. These are jobs that require little or no training, and have endless need for hard workers. The owner is a legal citizen, and he pays the illegals in cash. His company can undercut the pricing of legitimate companies, because he can pay his workers less. It's up to every American citizen to make sure that they don't contribute to this problem. It's doubtful, however, that your fellow Americans will help. The American public loves a lower price, and rarely asks questions.
14 :
America capitalizes on the poor and downtrodden. An illegal alien can come here and work for less than minimun wage and still receive a wage that is more than they would get in their own country. Plus they can come here and get welfare and medicaid. So can refugees...get welfare and medicaid. But if you are an american and working poor you usually make 2 dollars too much to get any kind of help. Especially the retired senior citizens who can't afford health care and medication. maybe they should sneak out of the US and become citizens of mexico, sneak back across the border, so they can get their medicine. I'm not angry at the illegal immigrants, I angry at our Government.
15 :
That's corrupt government, representatives, and businesses for you. They all want something for damn near nothing when it comes to hiring illegals. It fills their Swiss, and overseas bank accounts, investments, and wallets. But it depletes the American peoples. Now that they know they got their hands caught in the cookie jar, things are being put into perspective, and priorities are changing again thanks to the American people.

Employers are required by federal law to validate your legal ability to work in the country. This requires you providing documents and the employer completing a Form I-9. The form I-9 has a list of common documents that can be used, but a common combination is Driver License and Social Security Card.

Get a social security number and I.D first. Then look for a job.
2 :
I need more information to answer the question. What kind of visa were you issued? Under which conditions did you immigrate? Spouse of a U.S. citizen, diversity lottery, etc.
3 :
Depeneds on your staus, green card holders can work/live anywhere. H1-B visa allows work if your in a proffesional occupation, but you need to go throught the company or school if your a student. All depends. Immigration web site would probably help you.
4 :
Jobs are scarce everywhere. Go to a day labor agency. They seem to be doing a booming business.
5 :
You need to find the Immigration Office in your City, You need to file for a Work Authoraztion, there is a fee to this filing. If you came here legally take your passport, where you enter there should be attachment of the type of Visa. You should get a ID right right away for your Work Authorization. Take your ID to S.S office you will get your S.S in mail in 2 weeks. There is wording on S.S "INVALID IF NO WORK AUTHORIZATION ID"
6 :
You need a work visa and a social security card allowing you to work. A tourist visa doesn't allow you to work.

What does "eligibility to work in the United States" mean

What does "eligibility to work in the United States" mean?
Ciao! I don't understand the meaning of "eligibility to work in the United States"; I am a European citizen and quite often find on the web very interesting job offers that match my qualifications, and I'd be interested in applying. The thing is they all require a proof of eligibility. What is it? It means I need to be authorised to work in the US, ok, but how exactly? If I have no criminal records in any country but I have never lived in the US, am I eligible? Or "eligible" is only someone who already IS in the US? Would a contract or a statement of interest from an employer make me eligible? Thanks everyone! Ok, so it seems that only American citizens can work in the US! And, of course, people having a work-permit. Then, again, how is one supposed to get a work permit if he/she does not have a job, and how is one supposed to get a job if he/she does not have a working permit? I am puzzled :-)

I would look for a company that has offices in Brazil and the USA and go to work for them with the hopes of being able to transfer at a later time. If you are transferred by the company then their HR dept will assist with the necessary work visa.
2 :
a degree in "business administration" is pretty general and not very useful to get any specific job in the US. I don't even know what that qualifies you to do. and there are issues with work visa, etc. in the US and millions of unemployed people already here

What does it mean to be legally authorized to work in the United States

What does it mean to be legally authorized to work in the United States?
I am filling out some job applications and I spotted this question. I am a U.S. citizen but I'm not sure if that means that I am legally authorized to work in the United States. I want to answer the question truthfully so I won't get in trouble, please I know it sounds dumb but I want to know how can I be legally able to work in the United States? also thanks to all who answer..no matter how dumb the question is... ^^

Yes you are legally authorized to work in the US if you are a citizen. In the US, this question refers to those not of US citizenship. Thus, they are asking if you have a green card/work visa or student visa. This information is verified when the employer fills out the I-9 form during the hiring process. Your question isn't dumb. I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't really know the answer to this question.
2 :
Legally Authorised means a work visa or green card. Since you are a US citizen, you shouldnt have to answer that question, your question to answer becomes Are you a Legal US Citizen (or something like that)
3 :
If you are a US citizen you are authorised to work in the US> The question is aimed at immigrants who might not be legally permitted to take up employment
4 :
if u are a US citizen then u are legally able to work here, or if u have a green card or resident alien card u are able to work here. that is just for people that are here illegally but that doesnt stop them since they can get fake green cards and social security cards.
5 :
That only applies to aliens in this country. Some aliens are only allowed to come to the country to study etc, they are not authorized to work. Being a citizen, you are authorized to work if you meet the federal & local age requirements
6 :
It means you have been granted authorization to work in the US. For US citizens, this is not an issue, but only for someone who immigrated to the US.
7 :
You must be of legal AGE to work even if you are a US citizen. It's either 15 or 16 in order to be able to legally work.
8 :
how old are you that you dont know how to fill out an application? you are a citizen, you are legally able to work in the US. If you were an illegal alien, then no, you arent legal to work in the US
9 :
If you are a citizen of the US then you are legally authorized to work anywhere in the United states.
10 :
yes yur a legal authorized to work in us becouse yur a citizen they ask yur a citizen say yes
11 :
If you are a citizen then you are legally allowed to work in the U.S. This question is basically asking if you are an illegal immigrant without working papers. You are good to go.
12 :
If you are a citizen, you are de facto "authorized" to work in the U.S. If you are not a citizen, you need to have status conferred upon you by a government entity like the INS.
13 :
its just asking if you area legal U.S. citizen. that's all.

How has volunteer work in The United States changed over time

How has volunteer work in The United States changed over time?
Can anyone answer this question? :) How has volunteer work in The United States changed over time?

There was a time when volunteering was seen as something one did only out of the goodness of someone's heart. Now, it's accepted that people volunteer for a variety of reasons: to build up their CV, to learn about career options, to find out what a particular nonprofit really does, to make friends, to rebuild their own self-esteem, and on and on. The old paradigm of why to involve volunteers is -- we have all this work to do and we can't hire enough staff to do it, let's get some people to do it for free. The current paradigm is: some tasks are best done by volunteers, even if we have money to pay staff. More at the URLs below:

I don't know anyone who thinks muslims should have less rights. People just get ticked off at immigrants having special rights catering to them. Or when they have to sensor stuff of their favorite television show *south parkcough cough* because it "offends" some people. Either way muslims should be entitled to the same rights as everybody else.

Do you think that Mexico and The United States should work together to build their economies

Do you think that Mexico and The United States should work together to build their economies?
i am saying this because the European countries have worked together to make the EU and now there economy is strong enough to compete with ours. I am just saying that Mexico and The US should do the same we should be helping them out and they should work with us. Oh and for the illegal immigration i say we let them in and make them US citizens

No. No. No.
2 :
The problem with Mexico is it is entirely corrupt. Ask any Mexican and he'll tell you his government is corrupt. You can't build anything with corruption.
3 :
Maybe you should pick up a dictionary to help you define the word illegal.
4 :
The USD is already deflated enough in value. Combining it with the peso would only further deflate its value.
5 :
Are you aware of the Mexican culture of corruption? I've known first hand how things work down there, not pretty!
6 :
we might as well. In 6 months we'll be so poor that we'll need a loan from them to stay afloat. YES WE CAN!!!!
7 :
Yes. I support a North American Union, it would really strengthen North America's economy and open trade.
8 :
No because we'd have to pay to lift their infrastructure. Look at what illegal immigration is doing to our schools and services, already. We can't afford them. Also, I think individuals are best served by the most local government possible and that special interests rule as government is more centralized. I think the EU was a bad idea. Why don't they let the people have referenda on the Lisbon Treaty? Because it would fail. It was failing before they changed it from a Constitution to a treaty to avoid a popular vote in all countries but Ireland. Ireland voted it down, now they are making Ireland vote again. And again and again, presumably until a vote comes in that they like. If it is such a good idea, why doesn't anyone want it?
9 :
Sure first send all the illegal workers and family's back so they can work there.NO AMNESTY.
10 :
The United States has built its economy just fine
11 :
NO on everything you just suggested. Why should we help them out??? Why? And hell no to giving amnesty. They should come here legal in the first damn place.
12 :
I'm brittish and thus an EU member and whilst we are working together, we are not entirely on the same page. Our economies are still competing together rather than working together. What the EU does is makes distribution of workforce/regulations and business more accessable per country which helps the economies but again it's not a 1 economy superstate. As for Mexico I have no doubt that the illegal immigration is a vtal part of the economy, however it is in America's interest to not give these illegal's rights because after all if they have rights they may stop doing the jobs that Americans do not want to do and for poor pay. It's called social reproduction and aslong as Mexicans are denied rights, then they cannot develop.
13 :
we missed the boat back in the 1800's.we should have taken over mexico then,by now the people would be up to speed and we would have a great country.oh well...

Like 70% of the workforce.

Of the 8.4 million workers (age 18 to 64) whose wages and incomes would increase with a one-dollar raise in the minimum wage, 2.7 million (32%) are the parents of 4.7 million children. Of the 2.7 million parents who earned at or near the current minimum wage in 1999, 63% had family incomes below $25,000.
4 :
at least all the women who are working have that wage!! lol
5 :
A person does NOT have to be lazy to earn minimum wage. I have a college degree, but because of where I live...(I have children and moving is not an affordable option, nor is traveling too far to work)...minimum wage jobs are all that is available...and I'm not talking fastfood and gas stations...I'm talking college level jobs. There are more people on welfare in this area than I have ever seen. It is almost like a status symbol, and even though I am eligible (and pay taxes), I refuse to fall into the trap. There are people who use welfare as a stepping stool, but too many use it as a stool. If a person is working every minute they can; are raising self-respecting, law-abiding children; pay their bills without increasing their debt foolishly; do NOT expect handouts; and have a goal to be self-sufficient and are working toward that...KUDOS to them.

For temporary employment, you don't need a green card. That you can only obtain if you have an immediate blood relative who is a US citizen and is willing & able to sponsor your immigration. Then you wait in line for admission. For a temporary employment visa, you need to find a job with an employer which is willing and able to obtain an employment visa for you. You neglect to mention your qualifications, but the most popular is the H1-b visa. You need a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and at least 2 yrs experience in a position which requires a minimum of a baccalaureate degree. H1-b visas for 2009 have already been issued. The applications for 2010 I hear are already oversubscribed. They'll be processed starting in April. You probably can't get one till 2011. The company has to get labor certification from the Dept of Labor (prove there are no US citizens qualified for the job) before they submit an application for you. These are increasingly difficult to get with so many Americans losing their jobs these days. For that matter, jobs are increasingly hard to find these days. Don't get your hopes up for the time being. Note: the Dept of Labor reported that 533,000 jobs were lost in the month of November. That's their "adjusted" figures. If you go to the actual data, you will find that the number of employed persons declined by 1.2 million during November. If you continue using the same methodology used prior to the Clinton Administration (they changed the methodology in 1993), you will find that actual unemployment in the US now exceeds 16%, not 6.7%.

Under the Constitution of the U.S., they adjudicate the laws of the U.S., the Constitution, and resolve disputes between citizens of different States. They are provided lifetime appointments, to assure separation from pressure by other branches of Government via political pressure and job security. In reality, the Politicians get campaign contributions by selecting Judges favorable to their contributors special interests. Judges view where appointments may come from, and compete for ruling in favor of special interests - it is how they get appointed to the bench, and promotions to Appellate Courts and/or U.S. Supreme Court. The individual no longer matters in the U.S. judiciary - that is why most attorney's for the individual attempt to get their cases heard in State Court, while Insurance/big business/special interests attempt to get the cases removed to and/or heard in Federal Court.

In America, you are innocent until you run out of money! Mendlez brothers - guilty the day after the judge said they could not use their parents money to pay their lawyer. Poor OJ, did well for many years but fell on hard times and lo and behold - he is incarcerated!

In America it's about the MONEY. The criminal justice system works in the same way. How else would you explain over 2 million incarcerated. I live in a community with a maximum security prison facility that houses 80% domestic and vehicular offenders. They feed you small measly meals and make a killing in Kiosks selling junk food. Fifty cents for one plastic spoon. You can buy 10 for a buck in a retail store. It's criminal !!!

Do Japanese Wiis work in the United States

Do Japanese Wiis work in the United States?
I'm planning on importing a Japanese Wii to the United States soon. However, one of my friends has told me I will need other items in order to make the Wii work in the US due to voltage differences. What exactly do I need to make it work? I'm planning on importing games actually =( I just meant hardware specifications. Sorry I confused you, Wii Addict.
Nintendo Wii - 3 Answers

1 :
You will need an adaptor of some kind and a different plug. In Japan they use 230 Volts / 60Hz whereas in the USA they use 110V / 60 Hz. So you will need to order an adaptor to convert the voltages to make it safe to use in your home.
2 :
The reason why Japanese Wii dono't work in the U.S. is because of a region lock. A region lock is when you try to play a Wii game thats from a different country in a Wii thats from a different country. That's like trying to play an American Wii with Austrailian games. A way to take off region lock to to "mod" your Wii. Here's info about how to "mod" your Wii. http://www.wii-modchips.com
3 :
If you import the games it will work, but many companies are cracking down on game importing. You will have to buy an adapter to make it work with american plugins.

as long as you apply for the job while still living in the u.s. , and its not a government related job. You will need to make sure you have time to cross the border before getting to work. its a way longer commute.
2 :
Yes you can. I have known many people that do that. Some were U.S. citizens and some were Mexican citizens. I have known people that were living in the U.S. and working in Mexico. In both cases, you have to allow a lot of time to cross the border, especially if you drive. Sometimes it is better to leave your car in the parking lot at the U.S. side and walk over, then drive from there. My hometown is 5 miles from the border. Now I am retired living in the Armed Forces Retirement home in Washington, DC.
3 :
Yes. You'll save a lot of money too. Gas is cheaper and food is cheaper. Since he has family there, you won't be like a tourist in the sniper's scope. And when you get sick of the Mexicans and their backwards thinking, you can just go home for a couple days for a sanity check. Definitely give it a try.

It would be an awfully long commute...You could be an American citizen and live in British Columbia and work.
2 :
Sure, lots of people do it (and vice versa, living in BC and working in the US). You have to have the proper work authorization unless you're an American citizen, and preferably a Nexus card to speed up the border crossing.
3 :
Yes, an associate of mine works in Richmond, BC and lives in Bellingham, Washington. He has a Nexus Pass to help facilitate getting through the border faster and avoiding the line ups in the summer months. He is an American Citizen and has a Right to Work Permit for working in Canada. I believe the necessary paperwork can be obtained from any border crossing office.
4 :
Yes it would be possible. I know several of people who live in the Lower Mainland/ Fraser Valley area who live in Canada, and then work in the states. It is very possible. They give you those Nexus cards, and then you're just able to go through like that, instead of having to wait through those long line ups, but you have to pass some rigorous stuff first.

Requirements for a young Canadian who would like to temporarily move and work in the United States

Requirements for a young Canadian who would like to temporarily move and work in the United States?
Hello, I'm a 20 year old Canadian born Citizen with no criminal record. My family has vacationed in the same city south of the boarder every year since I was born and I have a strong connection with that area. I've always thought it would be fun to move there for one full year for a change of scenery but I would need a way to support myself. Ive looked through all the United States Work permit requirements and I understand I would need a employer to sponsor me which is not the issue. My problem is I have no education past a High School diploma, and I would not consider myself a very skilled worker. If I found a job in something say like retail and had the employer sponsor me would I be rejected due to my lack of education or skill right off the bat, or would it be worth my time to talk to someone at the United States embassy in Ottawa? It seems very hard to obtain a United States work visa, I take it the United States does not want foreign citizens taking their jobs which I understand and don't blame them for. Any information anyone has would be wonderful!

The US is just like Canada they dont need menial worker ...

Yep, there is a shortage of truck drivers here, but I have no clue about VISA's and stuff. Try these sites also, make sure your license is transferable!
2 :
I'm afraid that you have zero chance of getting a visa to work in Australia as a truck driver. Even with a job offer and/or sponsorship, the occupation is simply ineligible as a skilled occupation and that's the only type of visa available. The only occupations for which visas can be obtained are listed on the Skilled Occupations List (SOL): http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121i.pdf EDIT: On the 16th of May 2009 i.e. 4 days ago, eligibility for even regional 457 visas was removed from ASCO category 5 - 7 occupations. Heavy Truck driver at the mines was one of those. All other truck driver classifications were specifically removed about 12 months ago. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/asco5-7-faq.htm
3 :
There are plenty of job vacancies for drivers in Australia. However, one major thing you have to consider is that in US, you drive on the right side of the road while in Australia, it's on the left side...and the steering wheel is on the right side. It's pretty confusing if you're so used to driving on the right side of the road, so you need to adjust to that...and for this reason, you really have to start at the very beginning again when you get to Australia...and I don't think you would be able to get a driving job in oz before you arrive. In applying for a license, you need to get a learner's permit first...even if you already know how to drive...and this means, you need to have a full-licensed driver beside you while you drive for sometime. Then you take another test and get your P-plate...which still has some restrictions...for a while. Then take another test and get your full license. Have you checked other countries? Maybe you'll do better in those that drive on the right side. Good luck.
4 :
yep but you'd need a clean criminal record and be able to haul trailers. you can also go to New Zealand. Pay for a truckie is pretty good in Australia, especially in Western Australia at the mines. That's your best bet for a good gig. It is possible to get a job in WA online google: Driver Mining Western Australia
5 :
Oil fields and mining have slown down here heaps too. I am working with mining exploration and i see people going from the mines all the time, including truck drivers, since the regression started. Getting a truckie job related to mining would probably be hard at the moment, but there are a lot of other truckie jobs in Australia, like cattle trucks etc.. I think they are doing a bit better, mining is always one of the first industries hit by regressions.

Can I go on vacation in the United States while I'm in the process of getting a United States visa?
My boyfriend and I want to go to Miami on vacation, but I am currently in the process of applying for a United States work visa. Is this allowed? Or will it be badly recognized by the immigrations office? I am from Canada and will be in Miami for 4 nights :)

If you have a visitor visa or are from a visa waiver country and have ESTA approval, you should have no problem.
2 :
You can. Just don't overstay the tourist visa or get in trouble.
3 :
No you can't
4 :
You can ... they may bounce you back but probably not ...
5 :
Applicants for immigrant visas are sometimes turned away when they try to enter early with tourist visas because it's suspected they'll overstay. Since you are applying for a work visa and not an immigrant visa, you shouldn't have a problem.

Foreign PHD for Work in United States

Foreign PHD for Work in United States?
Hi. I have a PHD in Medical Science from Tartu University in Estonia. I was wondering what kind of medical work you can perform in the United States without having to completely pass your Step 3 USMLE Exam. I have already completed my 3 years of residency and passed all other exams except for USMLE Step 3. Thanks!

I hope somebody who really knows answers this question, too. My observations: 1) I know a couple people who work as nurses because they did not want to be bothered (or did not pass?) that exam. One was the kind who draws blood and gives injections and such like that, and the other - I do not remember. 2)Check to see the USMLE and Homeland Security (parts pertaining to work permits) web sites. I think if you go to www.ins.gov it'll take you to the new Homeland Security web site. 3) With that PhD, you can teach college or work as a research scientist somewhere (Johnson and Johnson?) Good luck

phd is international. You can work in every country with that.

I'm applying for EDD,one question is,Were you legally entitled to work in United States for the past 19 months

I'm applying for EDD,one question is,Were you legally entitled to work in United States for the past 19 months?
i worked for the company for years and just got laid off march 2009, i just recently adjust my status as lawful permanent resident Sep 2009. am i entitled to UI benefits?

Yes, you are entitled for UI.
2 :
Your adjustment of status was just approved? What was your status for the 19 months prior to being laid off in March 2009? Were you legally authorized to work for that entire time? Were you a regular employee, taxes withheld, W-2s issued? If you were legally authorized to work, taxes withheld, etc, then chances are that the employer paid into the Unemployment Insurance fund and you are eligible. You may have to explain why you waited 6 months after losing your job to file a claim. Also, if you haven't worked in the past 6 months, you have lost a great deal of the credits earned, and your benefits are probably about half what they would have been if you had filed timely. If you were not legally present and/or not authorized to work, were paid under the table, or the employer did not report your employment and pay into the Unemployment Insurance fund on your behalf, you get nothing. Not eligible for benefits.

Do you own the company -- own the stock? Did you come here on an investor visa? If you came here on an investor visa, you are required to hire Americans and forbidden to hire relatives. If you own a company but are not on an investor visa, you must fullfill a great many requirements to be able to hire a foreign worker. You have to register your company legally (incorporate, etc). You must submit an application to the Dept of Labor to get labor certification -- you must prove that there are no Americans qualified to perform the job, that it pays at least the prevailing wage in your area for that type of work, that you advertised the job vacancy for at least 6 months (and you need to keep every application that came in!). If you get labor certification, then you need to apply with immigration for a work visa of the appropriate class for this type of job, prove there is no American available to fill the job, and prove this person you are applying for is fully qualified to do the work. The person must hold the appropriate university degree(s), have at least two years experience, etc. and you must submit the documentation. It will take you a couple of years to do all this, and your cousin must remain in the Philippines while you do it all. The job market is so bad in the US right now that it will be extremely difficult for you to prove that there is no American qualified for the job. Your chances of getting the visa for him are poor unless he is exceptionally well educated and well qualified. Also note that work visas are temporary and you will need to repeat the process before you can renew it (if it is a renewable visa).

Open the cover of your play station, I think you should be able to find a jumper wire on the circuit board. The jumper wire is usually located very near the power supply. There should be some indication as to how to convert from 220-110 operation.

i dont think so because when you have a wii friend you can send them wii points as a gift but only if they are in the same country. So im guessing just like the wii they are region locked so you can only use them where you bought em
