Under the Constitution of the U.S., they adjudicate the laws of the U.S., the Constitution, and resolve disputes between citizens of different States. They are provided lifetime appointments, to assure separation from pressure by other branches of Government via political pressure and job security. In reality, the Politicians get campaign contributions by selecting Judges favorable to their contributors special interests. Judges view where appointments may come from, and compete for ruling in favor of special interests - it is how they get appointed to the bench, and promotions to Appellate Courts and/or U.S. Supreme Court. The individual no longer matters in the U.S. judiciary - that is why most attorney's for the individual attempt to get their cases heard in State Court, while Insurance/big business/special interests attempt to get the cases removed to and/or heard in Federal Court.

In America, you are innocent until you run out of money! Mendlez brothers - guilty the day after the judge said they could not use their parents money to pay their lawyer. ( She demanded off the case the next day). Yes they are in Jail! Michelle Jackson, they, after a few tries figured he had enough money to be innocent for ever! he was freed for life! Poor OJ, did well for many years but fell on hard times and lo and behold - he is incarcerated!

In America it's about the MONEY. The criminal justice system works in the same way. How else would you explain over 2 million incarcerated. I live in a community with a maximum security prison facility that houses 80% domestic and vehicular offenders. They feed you small measly meals and make a killing in Kiosks selling junk food. Fifty cents for one plastic spoon. You can buy 10 for a buck in a retail store. It's criminal !!!
