How can national health care work in the United States

How can national health care work in the United States?
What are some things that people can do in order to make politicans understand how important it is that everyone has helthcare? Are there any good orginizations out there that are working tward that goal? What is needed in order for a program to work nationally, not just in a city or a state? I would like to try and be a part of making sure that everyone is covered for any medical expences, what can I do?

I am against National Health care...all it does is create a population too dependent on their government, that is never a good thing....
2 :
Vote for Hillary Clinton. That's exactly what she wants to do too.

I have a $150 doctor bill . I can give you my address, check or money order will do just fine. Thank you for your contribution.

Getting the government involved in health care is a huge mistake. They mismanage most things and this will be no exception. Imagine having to call some US agency for clearance to see a doctor. And, they will tell you what doctor to see. Not for me. Not for USA.

National Health Care is no panacea. What people don't understand is that ALL health care is rationed, either by the state or by the market. Also, nobody wants to tackle the real issue as to why health cost are climbing. Over 50% of your health dollars are spent in the last six months of your life. Want to make health care affordable? Limit extra-ordinary measures. However, no one will get elected on the platform that they will limit chemo to grandma or not give grandpa that bypass.

Massachusetts has universal health care. I think that is a perfect example of how it would work in the US, since it is in the US.
7 :
just look at what other countries have done , the only way for it to work would be to tax the hell out of everyone and maybe give away free newspapers for the long waiting lines

I see that a lot of people that are against a nationalized health care program in the United States because they don't want to be told which doctor to see... Insurance companies do exactly that. PPOs, HMOs, etc. all regulate which doctors one is allowed to see. The only difference would be that a government agency would be making the decision instead of an insurance carrier.

There are programs already in place. It begins with the education system. Let's face it, if you want the good paying job, chances are great, you will need a good education. And, not to worry, it's already a "universal" education system. You are required to pay in to it regardless of whether you have kids in school, out of school or no kids at all! The teachers are all licensed and educated, the administration is in place and the books and transportation to get your little ones to and from is in place as well! If I had to guess, I'd say about the only things not provided are good parents and motivation! Health care is not a right, it's a privilege. As a side note, Hillary already tried to give us healthcare at a reduced rate. It's called HMO and under her plan, the decision making process was removed from the treating physician and turned over to your insurance provider. It was a HUGE flop. It cost my father ( a democrat all his life) his life. No continuity of care -- you never saw the same physician twice. And, regardless of their findings and recommendations... It was up to the insurance companies. Thanx, I'll pass. AND, for those who cannot aford to pay cash or have no insurance, the federal law requires that no Emergency Room be allowed to turn anyone away regardless of a lack of means to pay. This would also help to explain why our healthcare costs are as high as they are. You see every flea bitten tramp under the sun in there for B.S.. If you want it, earn it! God knows, I had to.

It already does it's called Medicare, it's efficient by any standard with just a 1% overhead you can't beat it

This argument over health care is crazy. What if a community argued this much over building a municipal water system. The solution is simple, monopolize the healthcare insurance industry. Create a publicly owned company that "sells" health care insurance to all Americans. It would have the same effect as a municipal water system, economy thru numbers.

Why does everyone think it is the government's job to tell people what to do? Polititians know it is important that everyone has healthcare. Its the people that arent' convinced. I think if anything, the government should start a marketing campaign to educate people on the importance of and the resources available for getting health insurance

The first thing to do is vote Democratic. The rest will be easy. We need a program that brings together insurance companies, health care providers, and the government allowing all to get the quality medical care but to do so at an affordable price. Premiums and payments would be done through insurance companies who agree to pay for all procedures required but who also agree not to sue doctors for malpractice. Malpractice can be handled by a board made of former medical professioals, retired politicians and former insurance executives and some private citizens for good measure. Any health care provider charged with mal practice will have their case reviewed by this team and the practicioner will be warned, fined or decertified (license taken) depending on the offence and whether they have done something questionable before. People do make mistakes unfortunately in the medical field they can be devistating. Trial lawyers buy big yachts on the fees they collect from such cases. They don't need that. We can also include members of the Pharmaceutical community on the board and as part of the health care provider network whose prices must be affordable. For those who have the means to pay insurance premiums through employment or because of circumstance should be required to do so. For those who are unable to pay full premium should pay at least something they can afford and everyone should pay a copayment when they see the health care provider to help defray expenses for insurance companies. It can be fair to all and affordable. Grandma should not have to decide whether to buy food or medication this month. Great Aunt Tillie shouldn't have to decide whether to buy gas for heat or medication next month. The single mom whose husband died of cancer, which wiped out all their savings, should not have to decide whether or not to feed her kids or take them to the emergency room because one has a fever and they can't afford a regular doctor visit. People should be able to access preventative medicine rather than wait and then have to go to the emergency room. That costs us all more in insurance premiums now. Everything we need we have. We just need to put it all together.

i wont work period, go get a job and buy your own.

It doesn't work. The gravely ill will simply die due to the overload upon the health care in come to America. That is why Canadians and English people with life threatening illnesses come to America. Why is it you morons can't understand the truth...has anything the government built, done or created been better than free enterprise? Hell, they can't ever beat a bunch of rag heads in Iraq.

You can push for Tort Reform. Malpractice lawyers wind up with the majority of health care dollars spent in America and the single biggest reason for outrageous medical costs and the decline in care is Malpractice Insurance! Besides, once the U.S. converts to nationalized medicine, where will the rest of the world's wealthy go for care???

We have nobody to blame but ourselves. We keep voting the same crud back into the congress. In all these years things didn"t learn a thing. The members of congress today are the same ones that have been screwing the American people for Corporate America for years. During those SAME years Corporate America has made out very well, HUGE tax breaks,no control of prices(gas), moving manufacturing overseas while receving tax breaks for doing so. Hello, wake up!!!!!!!!!

Do you understand the words, Socialism? How about Communism? You need to read a bit more. There are NO uninsured humans in the USA. NOT EVEN ILLEGAL ALIENS. You want to ruin our health-care system. Why? Here's some reading material. Enjoy.

Hillary is working on it! Careful what you wish for...... Clinton Takes $1 Million From Insurance Cos, Plans to Force All Americans to Buy Private Coverage http://www.consumerwatchdog.org/healthcare/pr/?postId=8535

First problem is getting it funded and finding out how much is it going to cost. When you start to see the cost climb way above how much money you can bring in to pay for it, then you may want another solution. Medicare/Medicaid is still in effect and should get a boost in funds instead of creating another multi-billion dollar mess that no one plans on fixing.

You might talk with the people in Canada who come to the United States for critical care, since their waiting list in Canada is several months. Government run health care means health care that is monitored and controlled and rationed.
