Where is the BEST place to live and work in the United States?
We've lived all over the place and we're looking for our retirement home after walking away from an Army career. Remember: Your opinions welcome and be sure to answer honestly for 10 points! :)

BOSTON!!!!!!!! I am totally biased becasue I was born here but the history, the skyline, the beaches, the culture. You really couldn't ask for more. Okay, it's freezing in the winter and the summers are gross but its still fun! We have the Red Sox too!

It really depends on what you are looking for. As far as retiring....most people like FL for its laid back culture, its beautiful beaches and great housing choices. I've lived in Tallahassee all my life and its definitely a great place to live. I haven't lived in any place else other than Jacksonville and Miami and they were lacking as far as a community setting. I love Tallahassee for the reason that its a great place for families, people are have close relationships to one another, great southern hospitality, great churches, and the city is not too small. Also it offers natural springs for great water that you can drink out of the faucet and just a great beautiful environment. I would recommend at least a visit.

Hawaii, how could anyone not want to live in such a beautiful place.

I would say anywhere but Boston. I think the Northwest is beautiful.....that is Oregon, Washington. Wyoming is a great place to find work and cheap housing. I wish I had more information from you....it would make it easier.

Right now, it seems to be Houston, TX. The wages are competitive with Southern California, and the cost of living is so much less. Property-wise, you get alot more for your money in Texas, as opposed to the other major cities.

YES! New England!

look for a state that is not outsourcing all the jobs..the funny thing is they are going by 10 to 15 year contracts so you have to do some research..no matter how secure u feel in your job today ..your company could have easily have set up future plans over seas that can effect our jobs tomorrow.

I think if you do some checking on the Internet that you will be totally amazed by what you find out about Northwest Arkansas i.e. Fayetteville, Bentonville, and Rogers. It is consistently listed in the top 5 in various publications as a great place to live. The crime rate is low, our unemployment is around 2.7%, tremendous job growth, low cost of living, beautiful Ozark mountains, the University of Arkansas, and we are the home of several Fortune 500 companies. The headquarters of Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, J.B.Hunt, and many others call NWA home. We do not like being compared to other parts of Arkansas because of how Arkansas has been stereotyped. NWA is like another country. We have mild winters with some snow and we are close to many large cities like Tulsa, Kansas City, and St. Louis. We are also about 23 miles form Eureka Springs, Arkansas and about 75 miles form Branson, Missouri which are popular destinations. Take a look.
