Can you furnish proof of your eligibility to work in the United States? what does it mean ?
I am a B.E. graduate residing in Chennai, INDIA. When I was trying to apply for a job abroad , I came across this Question." Can you furnish proof of your eligibility to work in the United States? " What do they mean? H1B visa status or the Educational Qualification to prove that I am eligible for the job

They want to see either proof of permanent residency or proof of your visa status. They will not sponsor you. You must have the right to reside and work in the USA.

I just applied for a job and they have me doing this too... List A U. S Passport or Passport Card Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Recipet Card form I-551 Foreign Passport that contains a temporary I-551 Stamp or temporary I-551 Printed Notation on a machine readable immigrant visa Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph Form I-766 In the case of non immigrant alien authorized to work for specific employer incident to status, a foregn passport with Form I-94 or Form I-94A bearing same name as the passport and containing an Endorsement of alien non-immigration status, as long as the period of endorsement has not yet expired and the proposed employmnet is not in conflict with any restrictions or limitations on the form Passport from Federated States of Micronesia or the Republic Marshall Island with Form I-94 or Form I=94A indicating non immigrant admission under the compact of free Assoication between the U. S and the FSM or RMI Let me see if I can find this stuff online...it is a lot to type out. These you only need one documentation with list a and b left you need two identifications. It means that you have to supply evidence that you are legally allowed to reside and work in the US.

You need to be able to provide proof of permanent residency (a green card or I-151), a work Visa (not a student visa) or proof of US citizenship (drivers license and social security card). They would prefer not to hire an illegal alien or someone they need to sponsor for visa purposes. (I am assuming you are talking about a job in the US)
