I know lots of Canadians move down to LA to work as an actor but I don't know what visa they use? I know the TN visa does not work as that occupation is not listed. Any information you have would be helpful :)

the type of visa varies depending on the strength of their skills, background and experience. P visas are for entertainers in general, O visas are for folks with international reputations. If you go down and find someone willing to hire you, get you an acting card, etc, then they' or their attorney will figure out which visa works best.

An alien who is coming to the United States to perform in the motion picture and television industry can be classified as an O-1. There is also the H-2B classification. Decisions on applications by employers seeking temporary admission of non-immigrant aliens for temporary employment in entertainment occupations require special considerations (too long to list). So, if you were the beneficiary of an approved H-2B, O-1, or P-1 petition, you could work as an actor for a specific employer in the U.S.

Unless you have, in your hands, a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) card the only work you'll find in LA is in the porn industry. You must establish yourself, first, in Canada. Get your union card in Canada. Try to find work with American production companies filming in Canada. Then, you've got a chance.
