Can a Colombian citizen legally find temporary work in the United States, if so through what agency?
I have a friend that is a native Colombian and he would like to come to the US for one summer to work and to perfect his English, the Colombian agency he interviewed with offered him a wonderful job at McDonald's!!! My friend is currently in college and speaks nearly perfect English, does he have to wash dishes and make fries?!?

No. There are specific and strict immigration laws for people wanting to work in the US. You can find them at the USCIS website. A few of them are professionals with valid documents to prove it and US immigration will do background check on these credentials.. A student in Columbia is already a liability. Colombian agency offering job at McDonald?? You gotta be kidding me? There are lots of US citizens and permanent residents here who cannot find work in the US and your friend was offered work at Mc Donald? That is a scam. They are just after your friends money period. He won't even do any work at McDonald as chances are impossible. Most companies here require proof of your residency and the right to work in the US. The US government has given strict compliance to companies on this law. Hiring illegal aliens is a big NO...unless employers wanting good profit at the expense of illegal aliens and if caught, you will end up in jail...and deported Do things the legal way. I know it takes time but better be safe than sorry. As far as an Agency? There is no agency I know of, as there are lots of unemployed americans right now and the US government wants them employed first before hiring others outside the US.

What kind of visa do I need to make non paid volunteer work in the United States
What kind of visa do I need to make non paid volunteer work in the United States?
I'm travelling to the US with my family as tourists (I'm from Argentina), but I'm planning to stay for a month after they leave, making some volunteer work on ornithology. This is a non- paid position. Is the tourist visa (B) enough? Or do I have to apply to a Exchange Visitor Visa (J)? Thanks!

How do I work in the United States as an actor legally (I am Canadian)
How do I work in the United States as an actor legally (I am Canadian)?
I know lots of Canadians move down to LA to work as an actor but I don't know what visa they use? I know the TN visa does not work as that occupation is not listed. Any information you have would be helpful :)

ask your agent the agency will take care of it

the type of visa varies depending on the strength of their skills, background and experience. P visas are for entertainers in general, O visas are for folks with international reputations. If you go down and find someone willing to hire you, get you an acting card, etc, then they' or their attorney will figure out which visa works best.

Under INA 101(a)(15)(P), an alien having a residence abroad which he or she has no intention of abandoning may be authorized to come to the United States to perform certain services as an artist, athlete, or entertainer for an employer or sponsor. The O-1 classification was created to provide specifically for the admission of persons with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, and athletics, or extraordinary achievement in motion picture and television production, and their essential support personnel. An alien who is coming to the United States to perform in the motion picture and television industry can be classified as an O-1. There is also the H-2B classification. Occupations in the entertainment industry include performers and all technical and support personnel involved with a performance. Decisions on applications by employers seeking temporary admission of non-immigrant aliens for temporary employment in entertainment occupations require special considerations (too long to list). So, if you were the beneficiary of an approved H-2B, O-1, or P-1 petition, you could work as an actor for a specific employer in the U.S.

Unless you have, in your hands, a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) card the only work you'll find in LA is in the porn industry. You must establish yourself, first, in Canada. Get your union card in Canada. Try to find work with American production companies filming in Canada. Then, you've got a chance.

Hi My name is Nicola and i work for a immigration company called Immigroup. We specialize in US visas. There is a process that you would have to follow. We as a company would help you at every step but if you would like to go and do this yourself then the steps that you would have to follow are: 1. Fill out and register with the government. 2. Find a appointment for your interview date, you are required to go for a interview with the US officer, this is the hardest stage to complete as 95% of the time there are no dates are available, you would have to dedicate your time to the computer and keeping pressing refresh and looking. 3. fill out the forms that you need to take with you to the interview with you 4. go to the interview to see if you are approved or denied. We as a company we provide a service to help you with all of the steps except going for the interview. If you would like any help or questions answered give me a call on 416 962 2623 Hope this helps Nicola x

Can a Canadian police officer transfer to work in the United States
Can a Canadian police officer transfer to work in the United States?
If so, what visa is required? What is the process? We have been told from an unreliable source that the agency you apply to work with will handle all necessary visa/paperwork. But all American police department web sites that I have been on, say that they require American citizenship.

Each police department has its own rules and is under a different set of state and local laws. In any case, a police department would be quite hesitant to hire someone who has previously worked under the laws of a completely different country. You wouldn't be able to transfer, but you might, with hard work and time, be able to join one.
2 :
I am afraid not. Both countries habe separate laws which governs the employment of policemen/women
3 :
The above answer is correct, also you would have to go through a local police academy regardless. So you probably should be looking at their websites and not the Law Enforcement sites.
4 :
The only big city police department that I've found that hires legal permanent residents is the Los Angeles PD. A Canadian citizen who had a green card could be hired by that department, or any other department that hires both legal permenent residents and U.S. citizens. Individual police department websites will tell you if they hire immigrants. I checked out a few, and 4 out or 5 only hired U.S. citizens.
5 :
then if they require american citizenship - then you need to find another category to emigrate under. Wait until you qualify for citizenship - and then he can change jobs. Its like the customs and immigrations here in Canada - you are required to be a Canadian citizen to apply for those jobs. And most other Canadian government jobs as well - for security clearance reasons.
