IT WAS TRIED.... ... and we almost starved to death. Thankfully, Gov. William Bradford of the 1623 Plymouth Colony decided "each man would have set acres" instead of of having shared crops and shared work. As soon as he did that, the harvests were more than ever before and the threat of starving over the winter was gone from American history.

It hasn't worked for any EU country so far and they have been around a lot longer. Why should it even be considered. Obama is pushing us that way and if the people fall for it We will have a ruling class and all else be poor. No middle class. Good luck on getting a decent thought out answer.
