How do i get a family member to come to the United States if they are in Somalia and their life is in jeopardy
My uncle has a son, who he hasn't see for close to 10 years now. He is 22 and has little sisters. They live in Mogadishu Somalia which is the center of all violence in Somalia. How does the legal system in the United States work in this case.

thats easy as a blood kin you can go to the local embassy near your state and can get issue a guest sponsor visa thats not to hard to get about 6 to 8 weeks in most cases.that will give you about 6 months in the US to figure out you next move to keep them here

If your uncle has to file an I-130 immigration petition for him. If your uncle is a US citizen and his son is not married it will take about 6 years. If your uncle has a green card and his son is not married it will take about 9 years. If his son is married your uncle must be a US citizen. It will take about 8 years. See the visa bulletin..... http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4310.html Good luck.

Is your uncle a US citizen? If not, forget it. And with the problems in Somalia, it is very difficult to get a visa to the US. The immigration limit is overloaded by refugees certified through the UN; and there is a problem deporting "undesirable aliens" and "criminal aliens" back to Somalia so there is a serious disincentive to allowing Somalis into the US.
