It depends because if the iphone 3G is using a service that has been tethered by the service provider, then it will not be unlocked. If it has been bought from the store, then most likely it is unlocked because i know you can buy unlocked phones from the store. Long story short, if it was bought from a store, then most likely it is unlocked. Think of it this way, if theres an indian version of AT&T and it was bought from there store, then it wont work in the USA.
