If not, could someone please tell me what I could do to fix this problem, thank you. Would you know if there are any cables that I could buy that would change the amount of volts that my Xbox would use?

Does a game/system bought in Japan work in America? Yes. Therefore, I assume it works in Australia too.

With a converter it might, however the games you buy in Australia won't work with it, it's region-coded.

I'm pretty sure all you need to do is buy a different power adaptor to suit Australian power points, because the US plug won't fit. The US uses 110V, as I'm aware of, and Australia uses 240V. A bit unrelated, I have a Dell laptop purchased in Australia, and it can handle voltages between 100-240V. So i'm assuming that Microsoft are smart enough to ensure their system will be operable at different voltages. Another thing is the frequency. Australia uses 50Hz, and the US uses 60Hz. On the bottom of the power adaptor, there should be some info about it. Just check what the input voltage and frequency is, and if it says up to 220V or 240V, and up to 60Hz, then it will work. One thing though is you shouldn't use Xbox Live, as Microsoft may cancel your subscription, and another thing is that some people have reported that their warranty doesn't cover countries other than the country of purchase.
